Ensemble “Medievales Ætnei”

Paternò

The Ensemble Medievales Ætnei was born within the Sturm und Drang Polyphonic Choir Cultural Association of Paternò (Catania) in 2014. The founders of the group are the brothers Tiziana, Fabio and Salvatore Coniglio, classically trained musicians who approached many medieval and Renaissance instruments from the lute, to the vielle, from the hurdy-gurdy to the flutes, from the psaltery to the harp, from the flutes to the viola da gamba, from the portative organ to the harpsichord.

The group was born with the intention of disseminating an often unknown but completely current repertoire for listening and enjoyment of the public of our times. The ensemble offers concerts, conference-concerts, historical re- enactments, concert lessons for schools. Where required he performs his recitals in medieval costume.

The repertoire ranges from sacred to secular music from the 12th to the 16th century. Recently they presented to the Sicilian public the “Ludus Danielis”, the oldest liturgical drama that has come to us from the Middle Ages.
