Coro Polifonico “Polimnia”

Padula

The Polimnia Polyphonic Choir was founded in 2008 with the aim of cultivating a common interest and passion: music and in particular singing. In 2011, the President and choir director Annammaria Torresi founded the Musical Association. The choir has been associated since 2010 with the A.R.C.C. (Regional Association of Campanian Choirs) and through the A.R.C.C. is registered with the FE.N.I.A.R.CO. (Italian National Federation of Regional Choral Associations). It is a mixed-voice choir that performs mainly a cappella; it participates in charity events and solidarity evenings, cultural promotion events, national and international choral reviews and festivals. The Polimnia musical association, despite being a non-professional training, has always found confirmation in community, thanks to the will of the choir to take particular care of the vocality, and improve itself through training courses and study seminars with illustrious masters of considerable fame. . The repertoire ranges from polyphonic sacred music to secular music, with particular interest in contemporary music without neglecting the Neapolitan classic.

In the course of time, the choir has conquered a primary and driving role in the spread of culture and enhancement of the musical heritage. The main objectives of the association are: to spread choral music and knowledge of musical culture in all its forms: ecclesial, popular, regional, national and international;  to promote contacts and cultural exchanges as well as concert performances with other Italian and foreign choral associations;  to promote initiatives and events aimed at supporting the development of the culture and artistic-musical sensitivity of the territory.

Every year the choir organizes the Choral Review “Harmony of voices”, an event that combines love for choral music with the architectural beauties of the Certosa di S. Lorenzo di Padula (SA). Among the most significant events is the recording of the CD “SACRO PROFANO”, in collaboration with the Accademia Musicale del Vallo di Diano. The CD includes the Pater Noster that the Carthusian monks sang, taken from the Missale Cartusiani Ordinis of 1603. Participation in the National Competition of poetry in vernacular “Antonio and Carlo Tortorella” Award ceremony II and VI Edition in Lagonegro (PZ). Animation of the Liturgy in the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican Rome on the occasion of the Jubilee of Mercy, in the Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura Rome. Participation at the Holy Mass held at the Convent of San Francesco, Padula, broadcasted on the national TV channel “Rai 1”. Participation in the VII Edition of the Vito Curcio National Prize to the new voices of Italian music, the choir was awarded the first prize. Participation in the Polyphonic and Parochial Choir Competition Review “DON RUA Award” in Caserta; the choir was awarded the Best Organization prize.
