Manos Blancas del Friuli Choir

The choir “Manos Blancas del Friuli” is born thanks to the idea of Maestro Claudio Abbado and to the willingness of family Nonino, and is the first gestural choir in Italy. Its peculiarity is that it performs music with gestures, which comment on and dance on the sound through compelling coreographies.
The project “manos blancas” takes inspiration from the experience in Venezuela of the “Sistema delle Orchestre e dei Cori Giovanili”, which has been founded from Maestro José Antonio Abreu. What makes this project innovative is that it gives the chance of studying music to all young people, with the purpose of creating social cohesion. Through music as an universal language, we can educate our society to the values of acceptance, co-existence and sharing between people of all conditions and social background.
From the cooperation between the illustrious personages mentioned earlier and some of the professionals of “Nostra Famiglia” in S. Vito al Tagliamento, it has been possible to bring such unprecedented communicative mode also to Italy.
The repertoire herewith proposed goes from classic to contemporary, and from traditional to ethnic music, with a particular regard to all of those tracks in which the meanings of peace, joy and brotherhood are present. The concerts we have made were at prestigious places such as the Senato della Repubblica, the city theatre of Ferrara, the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, the Teatro Argentina in Rome, the Sala Nervi in Vatican City. Recently, there has also been a collaboration with the singer Mika at his concert in Piazza Unità D’Italia in Trieste and at the tv show “CasaMika”aired on Rai 2. The success we have had on a national level, even if it makes us proud, is not our main goal. The one and only goal we have is the participation to the laboratories and to the paths that our guys are following in order to learn how to live together and grow with the music, to get used to live in a place without prejudices on diversity. The work that has been done for such project has been voluntary and it is held by the belief that our society needs to move towards a change, so that new generations can embrace a different vision of sharing and awareness on integration.
